Mathura, 30.08.2014 (AU): Preparations for Radhashtami in Barsana are almost complete. On Wednesday, the DM inspected the situation in and around the Shriji temple. She gave a list of duties to responsible officers. She also gave the order to the new SSP, Manjil Saini, to post a bomb squad in the town for the festival.
In the Collectorate conference room on Wednesday, DM B. Chandrakala met with the district officers responsible for Radha’s birthday festival in her home town. Insisting that all arrangements should be complete by Wednesday, and took them to Barsana to make sure that everything was in place.
The Barsana municipal chairman and executive officer were given orders to assist the officers. In particular the EO was told to see to sanitation and to see that permission be given for feasts and food distribution only after those responsible have signed contracts guaranteeing that they clean up after themselves.
A sufficient number of portable toilets and bathing facilities will be arranged for pilgrim visitors, including changing rooms for women.
Those who run parking facilities have been told that they must post rates and the cell phone number of their proprietors.
Generators are to be arranged so that lighting will be assured in all important locations such as in front of the temples, on the Parikrama path, around parking spots and so on.
The LIU, electricity and health departments and the development authority were given directions to place CC cameras in the temple and other important places in the town. A lost and found center is to be set up.
The district excise officer was ordered to prohibit liquor sales and consumption in the town for the two days of the mela.
Roadways will add an extra 100 buses to deal with extra travelers and will keep another 20 on standby.
