Vrindavan, 2020-01-29 (VT): India’s most exuberant celebration of the ‘festival of colours’, Braj’s 40/45-day Holi, will begin with Basant Panchami tomorrow. Basant Panchami which marks the onset of Indian spring season is when Thakur Banke Bihari Lal plays His first Holi. Shahji’s ‘Vasanti Kamra’ also opens for darshan on this day.
Banke Bihari Temple’s sevayat Amarnath Goswami said that Thakurji will play ‘Gulaal’ Holi with his devotees tomorrow. Yellow being the season’s colour, He will be dressed in a fine yellow ‘poshak’, and offered delicious ‘kesar sooji halwa’ bhog.
Shahji’s ‘Vasanti Kamra’ is opened twice a year for visitors, for two days on Basant Panchami and another two days during Jhulan in Shravan. The deities are brought out into the hall for these occasions. Devotees flock to the temple to have the majestic ‘darshan’ of ‘Chhote Radha Raman’ seated in all opulence among the beautiful chandeliers and gold-plated throne, doors and mirrors!
According to temple sevayats Shah KS Gupta and Shah Prashant Kumar, ‘Vsanti’ Kamra’ darshan will open from 10am to 12.30pm and evening post 6pm on January 30. On the next day as well devotees can have ‘darshan’ during the evening.
Shri Radhashyamsundar Mandir will take out a ‘shobhayatra’ on the occasion of Basant Panchami.
