Mathura, 2019-10-04 (VT): MP Hema Malini inaugurated the new plastic-to-diesel plant in Mathura on Thursday. As the first such plant in the state, it will recycle plastic waste from Mathura-Vrindavan and nearby Nagar Panchayats.
Set up in partnership with Paterson Energy (under the PPP model), the recycling unit has a capacity of 5 tonnes per day, as informed by Joint Municipal Commissioner, Ajit Kumar Singh.
During his last visit to Mathura on September 11, PM Modi pledged to end the use of single-use plastic by October 2. A ‘Run for Plastic Awareness Rally’ from Civil Lines to Vikas Market, Mathura was also organised on Oct 2.
While inaugurating the plant, Hema Malini expressed hope that the government, administration and people of Mathura-Vrindavan will work together to tackle the plastic problem.
