Vrindavan, 2011.09.26: Friends of Vrindavan distributed clothes to a number of poor widows and other needy women in memory of the late Smt. Rama Ben Davda and Shri Dwarka Das Bhai Davda. More than one hundred sarees were distributed in different old age widow shelters and at the Friends of Vrindavan headquarters on Mathura Road.
The program began with offering of garlands and incense to the photo of Shri Radha Raman Ji Maharaj. Addressing the gathering, chief guest Shri Sandeep Arora, a prominent local developer, said that it was a great privilege to serve these women saints who have come to Vrindavan to spend their last days in a life of devotion to attain Krishna consciousness. “It is everyone’s duty,” he said, “to support them so that they can peacefully spend their time chanting the Lord’s name.”
Guest of honor Shri Bal Krishna Gautam said that Friends of Vrindavan’s is well known for its service in the ecological conservation of Vrindavan, but it is heartening to see that it is widening the scope of its charitable work. He praised the tireless efforts of the NGO.
Brahmin Mahasabha patron Pt. Bihari Lal Vasishth said that widows find Vrindavan a kind of haven. They don’t have to face the kinds of problems that are their lot in their home places. In the land of the Divine Couple, however, they find all facilities. “Therefore, social organizations like Friends of Vrindavan and the residents of Vrindavan have to become more responsible in caring them. It is important for the donors to identify responsible and trustworthy organizations and then donate for the cause.”
Shri Balo Pandit and social activist Shri Madhmumangal Shukla, and Jagannath Poddar were also present along with other FoV volunteers.
