Vrindavan, 2014.08.30 (AU): At the Swami Haridas Rasopasana Peeth Seva Sansthan situated in Haridas Nagar the festival celebrating the appearance day of Swami Haridas was kicked off on Tuesday in the midst of various religious programs. On the first day, various artists performed song and dance, making their heartfelt offerings to Swami Haridas. The program was opened by MP Hema Malini who placed the garland on the picture of the founder of the sect.
Hema Malini said that Swami Haridas had a direct experience of the Supreme Lord through his amazing music, and that is how he made Banke Bihari appear. “Whenever I have had the opportunity to play or dance the role of Radha, then I always get the feeling that Krishna is right there with me.”
She also promised to come again to the Haridas Seva Sansthan and to dance as an offering of her faith to Swami Haridas.
The institution’s secretary Vishnudan Sharma explained the activities that will be part of the seven-day festival. Each morning at seven Swami Haridas’s Keli-mala will be recited.
The evening program included performance of classical dance in Bharat Natyam, Odissi, and Katthak styles by dancers from the Venunad Kala Kendra, Sandipani Muni School, Nritya Jyoti Katthak Kendra in Agra. Raju Pathak played sitar.
