The Varaha Purana says that there are 66 billion shrines on earth, and they all reside in Braj during Chaturmas. This is the reason that people make special efforts to travel to Braj during this Chaturmas period. Thousands of devotees can be found, camping in the forests of Braj; following a tradition that is thousands of years old.
The Braj Chaurasi Kos Yatra, which is completed in forty days, is also mentioned in the Veda-Purana and Shruti Granth-Samhita. Braj is most famous for being Shri Krishna’s childhood playground, but also, in Satyuga, the devotee Dhruva came here and took a Guru Mantra from Narada, performed austerities and performed Brahma Parikrama.
A Jain text from the 14th century, by Jain Dharmacharya Jin Prabhu Shuri mentions Braj Yatra. With historical references to the journey of Acharya Madhavendra Puri Maharaj of Madhva Sampradaya in the 15th century, then Mahaprabhu Vallabhacharya, Goswami Vittalanath, Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, Roop Goswami, Sanatan Goswami, Narayan Bhatta Goswami, Chaturanaga of Nimbarka sect, etc. in the 16th century.

Braj Chaurasi Kos Tour is full of sightseeing. According to the Puranas, in this journey there are 12 forests, 24 groves, four bowers, four nikunjs, 365 kunds four lakes, ten wells, four great banyan trees, five mountains, Char Jhulas, 33 places of Rasa Leela, etc. The Chaurasi Kos travel route falls not only in Mathura, but also in Aligarh, Bharatpur, Gurgaon, Faridabad border, but eighty percent of it is in Mathura.
