Mathura, 2019.04.14 (VT): After making headlines for its swanky makeover, Mathura Junction Railway Station is in the news once again. A Mist Cooling System was recently installed at the station in order to provide passengers relief from the scorching summer heat.
Mist cooling technology helps to keep outdoors cool at a fraction of the cost of air conditioning systems. It is easy to install and can reduce outdoor temperature by 7 to 8 degrees Celsius.
Earlier this year, Mathura Junction Railway Station was revamped under the Railway Ministry’s station beautification and redevelopment program. This included renovation of the waiting room and reservation lounge, modernization of facilities, and widening and redecoration of entry Gate Number One.
In a bid to attract more tourists, Railway authorities have decided to flaunt the refurbished station as a destination of sorts. A ‘selfie point’ has been set up at the main entry from where people will be able to capture the best shot.
Station director NP Singh said that a Tourist Facilitation Centre is being developed at platform No. 1 under MVDA’s supervision.
Last month, BJP MP Hema Malini also inaugurated the new look of Mathura Cantonment Railway Station.
The Rs. 2.2 crore renovation project included a new main entrance styled like a temple with seven domes, LED glowing boards displaying various Krishna Lilas, paintings of main temples in Braj, renovation of the park outside, development of parking lots, and facilities for passenger convenience including battery-operated tricycles for the specially-abled.
