Vrindavan, 2019.02.08 (VT): The 7-day consecration ceremony of India’s first temple dedicated to Radharani’s mother, Kirtida, began on Thursday (February 7). The temple, situated within the precincts of Kripalu Maharaj’s Rangili Mahal in Barsana, will be opened for devotees on February 11.
The temple was consecrated with the waters of Prem Sarovar, Gazipur, Barsana. On Thursday, 5100 women took out a ‘Kalash Yatra’ from Kirti Mandir to Prem Sarovar and back, for this purpose. The alleys of Barsana resounded with sweet ‘Bhakti’ songs as the Yatra traversed through them. The ‘Bhakt Mandal’ also went to Shriji Mahal to invite Radharani.
For two days (February 8, 9) various Vedic rituals will be performed in the temple. The ‘Pran Prathishta’ of the presiding Deity (Ma Kirti) will be done on Sunday (Feb 10). Assorted gifts will be distributed to around 15,000 people from nearby villages on the day of inauguration (Feb 11).
The foundation stone for ‘Kirti Mandir’ was laid by late Kripalu Maharaj in 2005-06. Built in North India’s famous Nagara style of temple architecture, the temple has two floors and a spire.
Ma Kirtida will be seated with Radharani in her lap inside the ‘Garbhagriha’ (innermost sanctum) of the temple. ‘Murtis’ of Radha Krishna, Sita Ram, and Ashtasakhis will also be instated.
